Everybody knows that your body runs on fuel. This fuel is built up of nutrients that affect our body’s performance daily. There are things you have to consider in your day to day life. There are a lot of myths about eating, and sometimes these myths can do our body more harm than good. So let’s try and clear up some of these here and now.
Some of you may have heard about low carb diets. Well it is good to keep control over how many carbs we intake, but the fact remains that your body relies on carbohydrates for your muscles and for your body to store energy. Make sure that you watch how many carbohydrates you eat, but make sure you are also getting enough of them in your daily diet.
Are you already dieting? Are you getting enough calories in your diet? Yes, losing weight deals with cutting down on the calories, but losing weight too fast isn’t safe at all. The trick about dieting is you need to develop a way of life about it. If you gradually change your eating habits so that your aiming to lose just a couple pounds at a time. You stand a better chance of keeping the weight off. When going for the gusto so to speak, you diet hardcore for a few weeks, maybe a few months, and you might be doing great, but at this rate you’re going to eventually break down and splurge. Then you mess up your metabolism and you have to start the process over again, hopefully without taking too many steps backwards. Make sure that you eat enough calories in your daily diet so that your body will run properly and you still have the energy to live life.
Maybe your already exercising, and working out. If you start to hear this rumbling in your stomach, pay attention to it. It means you are hungry. Don’t push yourself to work out on an empty stomach just because you think, “Well I am not eating anything, so all this working out is pure loss of fat”. The truth is, your body needs fuel, just like your car. It isn’t good to run on little to no fuel in the system. Before you exercise, work out, or do any other kind of physical activity, try and eat some type of healthy snack. For example eating an apple before you work out. This will ensure that your body has some nutrients to use as fuel, and you can still make the work out count, because you didn’t add much of anything, but you added enough to run properly.
Are you one of those people that skip breakfast in the morning? Maybe you’re too busy in the morning, or you may even think that cutting this meal out, cuts down on the food intake, and helps you lose weight. The truth is, you just woke up and are starting your day. Your body needs some fuel to get through the day. If you do not put some nutrients into your body, it will start to use up any that is left over it still has. When your body has no more nutrients to go off of, you start to see or feel effects of this throughout your day. Try to eat a nutritious breakfast, even just a little bit to get your body going for the day.
Do you think because you eat healthy and exercise you can eat anything you want? Eating healthy and exercising does not excuse you from making sure that your body gets the proper nutrients that it needs. We all need the same nutrients in our bodies. Whether we do any kind of physical activities or not. Make sure to eat your fruits and vegetables just like everyone else.
Are you relying on energy bars and energy drinks? The energy drinks are becoming more and more popular all the time with new flavors constantly coming out. Do these drinks and bars give you the same nutrients? The real answer is NO!! These things are perfectly fine to have once in a while, but they do not have the proper amount of antioxidants that your body needs to prevent cancer. Fruits and vegetables are the way to go, because they are packed full of vitamins, minerals, fluid, and fiber. You may be able to cover a few of these things with energy drinks or energy bars, but they don’t hold a candle to the real deal of fruits and vegetables.
What do you drink? Do you know that water, milk, and different kinds of juices are the best things to drink if you are an active person. Make sure to drink often throughout your day. Don’t wait for you to feel thirsty to go get a drink. Once you feel like you’re getting thirsty, your body is already processing on too low of a level. Drink before you get that feeling, and keep your body running properly.
Eating correctly is the main step towards feeling better, and healthier. If you change the eating habits you may have picked up, so that you eat correctly you will find yourself just how much it can really change your life. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are. Eating healthy is something everyone should strive to do. Start eating the right way starting TODAY!
